Designing Our New South End Office

A space that reflects how we live and work

When I began looking for a new space for bee designe, I was looking for a place that felt aligned with how we work, the pace of our days, the conversations we have with clients, the quiet moments where ideas begin to take shape. Boston’s South End felt like the natural choice. There is a rhythm to the neighborhood, historic brownstones, small shops, crafted restaurants, and a creative community that values craft and detail. It’s a place where history and evolution sit comfortably beside one another, which felt deeply aligned with our work.

A Studio That Reflects Our Evolution

When I first started bee designe, it was just me, working closely with clients and slowly shaping a point of view. Over the years, the studio has grown into a team, a process, and a deeper understanding of how people truly want to live in their homes. This new space reflects that evolution. Rather than designing a traditional office, we approached the space the same way we approach our clients’ homes: with intention, warmth, and a focus on how the environment makes people feel. It’s a place where ideas develop, where materials are explored, and where clients can step into our world and immediately understand our perspective.

A Sense of Calm

The vision for the space was simple, calm, thoughtful, and elevated. Our work requires deep focus and creativity, so the environment needed to support that rhythm. Natural light, soft textures, and quiet palettes create a sense of ease that allows ideas to move freely. There’s a softness to the space; nothing feels overly formal or precious. Instead, it feels lived in, layered, and intentional. The goal was to create an atmosphere where creativity feels natural, and conversations with clients unfold effortlessly.

Materials That Tell a Story

Materiality plays a quiet but important role in the space. Wood, stone, plaster, and linen form the foundation, layered with aged metals and subtle textures that add depth without overwhelming the eye. We gravitate toward materials that age gracefully, finishes that develop character over time, rather than chasing trends. The palette remains restrained, allowing light, texture, and craftsmanship to become the focal point.

A Space for Conversation

One of the most important aspects of the firm is how it welcomes clients. Our work is deeply collaborative, and many of the most meaningful ideas happen during relaxed conversations rather than formal presentations.

The space was designed to encourage that feeling. Rooms unfold naturally, seating invites people to stay a little longer, and the environment feels thoughtful without being overly structured. It’s a place where clients can slow down, explore ideas, and imagine the future of their home.

Looking Ahead

More than anything, this studio represents a new chapter for us. It reflects the growth of the firm, the clarity of our perspective, and the kind of work we want to continue doing. A place where creativity feels grounded, where our team can work fluidly together, and where clients feel immediately at ease. In many ways, it feels less like an office and more like a creative home for the firm, a space designed to support everything that comes next.
